Studio interview: Expert: US should not take sides on Diaoyu Islands dispute

For more on this, we're joined on the line by Teng Jianqun, senior research fellow at the China Institute of International Studies.

Q1: China's reclamation around seven reefs in the Spratly archipelago of the South China Sea has alarmed other claimants,  drawing growing criticism from U.S. government officials and the military, what do you think of this?

Q2: U.S. Defense Secretary Ashton Carter has said the Diaoyu Islands fall under the scope of the Japan-U.S. security treaty. Does that mean the US is taking sides on territorial issues?
