Tang Mengsheng is director of the Center for Pakistan Studies at Peking University. He says President Xi's visit will promote the "economic corrridor" and the relations between the two countries.

"China-Pakistan relations has been developing well since the late 1950s. We think President Xi's visit will promote the relations to a new level. And a number of deals are expected to be signed due to the launch of the 'economic corridor'," he said.

"Energy and infrastructure cooperation are expected, including the highway from Lahore to Karachi and the port of Gwadar.  For example, the building of the Gwadar port airport and the highways connecting the airport can boost economic development for the nearby regions, and even the whole country."
