Tornadoes, flooding, snow, and a tropical storm hit U.S.

05-11-2015 17:44 BJT

Hail, snow, flooding, tornadoes and a tropical storm made for an eventful Mother's Day across much of the United States on Sunday. US authorities say one person was killed and approximately 20 injured in a tornado that tore across Texas.

In eastern South Dakota, officials evacuated residents of Delmont after a tornado touched down, injuring nine people, demolishing a Lutheran Church and damaging 20 buildings. In western South Dakota it was a different story, although not a much better one. Officials there issued "no travel" advisories for after the region was blanketed in snow and under a

blizzard warning.

And in South Carolina, Tropical Storm Ana weakened after making landfall near Myrtle Beach, but high surf and flooding still threatened the coast.

On Sunday afternoon in the U-S, Ana was delivering maximum sustained wind of 56 kilomters per hour and was barely of tropical storm intensity.
