In 1919, the May 4th Movement against imperialism and feudalism broke out in China. It awoke the Chinese people in an unprecedented way.

On July 23, 1921, the first CPC National Congress opened in Shanghai. It marked the founding of the Communist Party of China.

The Nanchang Uprising, which occurred on August 1, 1927, marked the beginning of the CPC-led armed revolution against the Kuomintang regime.

The CPC Central Committee Political Bureau held an enlarged meeting in Zunyi, from January 15-17, 1935. The meeting established Mao's leading position.

The War of Resistance Against Japan (1937-45) was the first time China won a complete victory in the fight against a foreign invasion in its modern history.

The War of Liberation (1945-49) ended the Kuomintang reactionary rule and the People's Republic of China (PRC) was founded on October 1, 1949.

In 1952, the CPC put forward the general line for the country's transition to socialism and by 1956, China accomplished its socialist transformation.

The downfall of the "Gang of Four" and the end of the " Cultural Revolution" in 1976 marked a new development stage for China.

The convening of the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh CPC Central Committee in late 1978 marked the beginning of China's ongoing reform and opening up.

The Communiquéadopted at the Third Plenary Session of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in 2013 demonstrated the Communist Party’s determination to comprehensively deepen reform.
