Noting that this year serves as the 70th anniversary of the victory of the War Against Japanese Aggression and the world's anti-Fascist War, ambassador Cheng said China and Japan are close neighbors who cannot move away and avoid each other.

He said this anniversary is quite crucial for Japan to earnestly reflect on its war-time aggression history, and take history as a mirror and face up to the future. And in his speech, a former Japanese veteran said there will be no genuine China-Japan friendship without a correct understanding on history.
