On the morning of September 3, 2015, a memorial meeting of the 70th Anniversary of victory of Chinese People's Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War was held at Tiananmen Square in downtown Beijing where Chinese president Xi Jinping delivered a speech.

Xi memorialized heroes and all others who contributed to the war effort. He urged people to bear in mind the arduous struggles of the Chinese people fighting against Japanese aggressors.

He indicated the strong stand of the Chinese people to safeguard world peace. Through imparting and inheriting the history and future, the Chinese people can pass on the good wishes of peace and development for the world.

Reflecting on History is to make sure that this historical tragedy will never repeat itself.

The Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression started the earliest and lasted the longest. From 1931 when Japan launched the Mukden Incident (September 18th Incident) in China, to 1945 when Japan declared an unconditional surrender, the Chinese people’s heroic fight against foreign invasion had lasted for 14 years, causing a huge national sacrifice.

Despite much hardship, the Chinese people held their ground in the main theater in the East of the World Anti-Fascist War, thus making major contributions to its victory. On the Chinese battlefield, Chinese troops and their allies wiped out more than 1.5 million Japanese soldiers. The Chinese army supported the Allied combat that disrupted Japan-German Fascist efforts.

This has been a victory for people all over the world. China has fought for world justice and to drive forward human progress. History will always remember the Chinese people’s ultimate sacrifice and outstanding exploits that they have built afterwards.

The experience of war makes people value peace all the more. World War II., ravaging through Asia, Europe, Africa and Oceania, had inflicted over 100 million military and civilian casualties. China suffered over 35 million casualties and the Soviet Union lost more than 27 million lives. The best way to honor the heroes who gave their lives to uphold freedom, justice and peace and to mourn the loss of innocent lives brutally taken during the war is to make sure that this historical tragedy will never repeat itself.

The Chinese people have a love for peace, upholding justice and pursuing progress for the common development of all nations.

Suffering from foreign aggression and oppression in the past, the Chinese people recognize the preciousness of peace. They do not want to see new wars occurring in any region or in any country of the world.

"Manifest the past to alert the future generation". On September 3, 2015, the Chinese people, together with peace-loving people from around the world, have commemorated this glorious holiday. For the first time we held a victory day military parade by doing which we would bear history in mind to honor all those who laid down their lives, cherish peace and open up the future.

The Chinese people, who are always pursuing peace, justice and progress, are the main force of the World Anti-Fascist War during World War II and the main force of advance for global peace and development as well.

In the interest of peace, China will foster a keen sense of a global community of a shared future. China and other countries will uphold the international order and system underpinned by the principles of the UN Charter, build a new type of international relations featuring win-win cooperation and advance the noble cause of global peace.

China will remain committed to peaceful development. China will never seek hegemony or expansion. It will never inflict its past sufferings on any other nation. The Chinese people are resolved to pursue friendly relations with all other countries, uphold the outcomes of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War and make greater contributions to society.

Chinese President announced on Thursday's V-day ceremony that China will cut the number of its troops by 300,000.   The Chinese People’s Liberation army will faithfully fulfill the sacred duty of protecting the nation's security and people's well-being, and upholding world peace.

This is the victory horn of the Chinese people that is blowing to people all over the world. We are showing the power of defending justice, passing on peaceful desires of the world’s people, expressing a national stand to celebrate the victory of the Anti-Fascist War, and a determination to pursue international justice.

The Chinese people will continue to hold high the banner of peace, development and cooperation, marching together with people from all over the world who love peace and long for progress. The world’s people will work together to promote a lofty cause.
