On September 23, Chinese President Xi Jinping toured the Microsoft Corporation headquarters. He advocated for a peaceful, secure, open and cooperative cyber-space, while every country should institute its Internet policy in accordance with national conditions. Xi delivered these remarks at the eighth China-U.S. Internet forum.

President Xi shows right direction for Sino-US Internet cooperation.

He highlighted Beijing’s policy on cybergovernance to demonstrate the nation’s confidence to maintain network security along with its reform and opening-up policy.

Internet industry is making progress. China and the United States hold many common interests in this field. The two great powers face challenges as well. The Internet has expanded space to promote exchanges between the peoples of both countries, as well as with those in other parts of the world. There exist no floating clouds to secure development.

Washington and Beijing should work together to build a secure, steady and prosperous cyberspace on the principles of mutual respect and trust, which will become a new highlight for Sino-US cooperation.
