On September 26, Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit and delivered a speech during his first visit to the UN headquarters in New York. He advocated for countries to follow equitable, open and innovative development.

On Sept. 25, world leaders adopted 17 sustainable development goals for over the next 15 years. President Xi’s proposal has far-reaching implications, showing how Chinese philosophy can enhance global development.

China will uphold the principles of placing justice before self-interests in regards to cooperation. Beijing had agreed to commitments and actions, signaling its responsibility as a major country.

Chinese initiatives can inject an added impetus to global development. All international communities should unite to move forward for a better future.
