Xi meets with Sierra Leone president

President Xi Jinping says China is drawing up a plan to help Sierra Leone and two other Ebola-affected African countries with economic and social reconstruction. He made the remarks during his meeting with Sierra Leone President Ernest Bai Koroma. 

Xi Jinping said China will support Sierra Leone in improving its public health prevention and control system.  This includes setting up a research and treatment center on West Africa tropical pathogens as soon as possible.  And China will send more medical workers. In addition, China will deepen cooperation in agriculture and fishery.  The Chinese president noted the two countries will mark 45 years of diplomatic ties in 2016.  He said China is willing to further enhance mutual political trust.  Koroma said Sierra Leone will continue to safeguard its relations with China, and enhance cooperation in such areas as development, healthcare and infrastructure.
