Chinese President Xi Jinping has met with his Nigerian counterpart Muhammadu Buhari in New York. The two leaders call for boosting bilateral cooperation and upgrading the two countries' strategic partnership.

Xi Jinping noted next year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of  diplomatic ties.He said China is willing to strengthen cooperation in politics, trade, and agriculture with Nigeria.

The Chinese president also noted this year marks the 15th anniversary of the founding of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum.  He said China agrees with the African side on the proposal of upgrading the ministerial-level meeting in December to a summit. Buhari said the Nigerian government will continue to promote the comprehensive development of the bilateral relations.
