From September 22 to 25, Chinese President Xi Jinping paid a state visit to the United States at the invitation of President Barack Obama. Xi’s visit is intended to build a new international order and new model for Sino-US relations.

Xi reaffirmed that Beijing will never seek hegemony and pursues peaceful development, when he  delivered a speech in Seattle on September 22.

Beijing and Washington will follow the road of non-confrontation, non-conflict and pragmatic cooperation. Both countries have significant international influence to maintain stability, development and peace of the world.

President Xi spoke about the One Belt, One Road initiative, which welcomes all countries, the US included, to join in. His speech demonstrated how Beijing would expand pragmatic cooperation and common development with the US.

The two countries have made joint efforts to safeguard peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region. Since the beginning of the 21st century, Beijing has advocated a common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security concept for the international community.

In regards to Asia-Pacific regional security, both countries have common interests and concerns. Washington has constantly adjusted its deployments of overseas-stationed troops to the Asia-Pacific region with increasing frequency.

The two countries signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) to establish a mutual reporting mechanism on major military operations and a code of safe conduct on naval and air military encounters, as well as military crisis communications and air safety.

Beijing and Washington have taken concrete actions to reduce tensions.

Beijing favors a new Sino-US model of major-country relations. The US welcomes a strong, prosperous and stable China with a greater role in international and regional affairs. China respects  the United State's  global influence and real interest in the Asia-Pacific region.

This statement helps both sides understand concerns as a foundation for a new Sino-US model of major-country relations based on mutual respect and win-win cooperation.  Xi's US visit is of great importance  for maintaining peace in Asia-Pacific region and the world.
