Chinese President Xi Jinping has visited many countries, and his just-concluded five-day state visit to the United Kingdom should be considered a splendid success.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has just concluded his five-day state visit to the United Kingdom.

He met the British royal family, its government, Parliament and the society at large, which provided to him the highest protocols ceremonies.

Beijing and London have declared that bilateral relations have entered a golden era, while they have started a global comprehensive strategic partnership.  The two sides dazzled the world with the signing of mega commercial and financial cooperation deals during the state visit.

Additionally, China has pledged to help Britain build and operate nuclear power stations, along with signing major deals involving hi-speed railways and turning London into a major RMB international financial hub.

London is committed to work closely with Beijingon important global issues to elevate their ties from a bilateral framework to a global framework.

China-UK relations have created the unprecedented new major-country relations. Both nations are permanent members of the United Nations Security Council with global responsibilities.

Despite the extraordinary pomp and ceremony, the most important underlying message of China-UK relations is that they remain committed to treat each other as equals.

They have full respect, engaging with trust and confidence to promote comprehensive cooperation in all areas for mutual benefit.  By pledging to be China's best friend in the Western world, the UK has endorsed its peaceful rise.

Beijing was granted permission to operate nuclear power stations in Britain after a rigorous risk and security analysis was conducted. London will support Beijing for the present and for many decades to come.

Both sides have become stronger via acomprehensive global partnership, and the world may become safer and more stable.  The Chinese and the British are thrilled about the golden era of bilateral relations.

Global citizens may start to see a new world coming into shape where China becomes more accepted by developed countries as an equal, trusted and reliable partner.  Now that China and the UK have achieved this extraordinary breakthrough, what about China and United States?

Rather than challenging Washington on the global stage, Beijing should engage with the US as an equal partner. China-UK relations should inspire greater trust and confidence in China-US relations for tomorrow.
