Ahead of the Johannesburg summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, CCTV interviewed President of Sierra Leone, Ernest Koroma, and President of Mauritius, Ameenah Gurib-Fakim. Both leaders expressed their appreciations towards China's support to the development of African countries.

Koroma said the mechanism of the cooperation forum, has set a clear framework for related countries to carry out respective obligations and commitments. "We have engaged equal opportunities from both sides, and also mutual respects. The speed with which decisions are made and actions are implemented is remarkable."

Sierra Leone has been hit hard by Ebola this year. Nearly 4,000 people were killed and its economy was greatly affected. Koroma said the country was able to defeat the deadly virus, thanks to China's emergency response and constant aid.

He said Sierra Leone is now in a stage of enhancing its public health system, recovering its economy, and improving people's livelihoods. He added that there is much to learn from China, and his country is committed to deepening industrial cooperation with the world's second largest economy.

Ernest Koroma said:"And I believe we are going to have industrial hopes, that will be developed jointly with Sierra Leone and China."

China is one of the biggest trading partners for Mauritius. The President of Mauritius called China a very important partner.

Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, President of Mauritius said:"Mauritius, as I said, has had very strong links with China. And China has been a very good partner as far as Mauritius is concerned. We have benefited from many funds, and loans as well."

Fakim also praised China's role in improving China-Africa cooperation. "For the past few years, Africa has been collaborating closely with China. Because we mustn't forget that China is still the biggest trading partner for the continent. Hopefully, with China's input, would be the emergence of a strong agricultural sector," said Fakim.

Talking about President Xi Jinping attending the China-Africa Cooperation Forum, Fakim said it has a significant meaning to Africa.

Fakim also said:"Having the presence of the head of state, like the head of state of China, physically in Africa, it means a lot. It means a lot in terms of seriousness of the purpose, in terms of assuring that all the promises and expectations of both the African continent and China will be made. Because I think the world believes in the leadership of President Xi Jinping."
