China sets target for emissions cut in power sector

The State Council also wants to push for a lower emissions standard at thermal power plants across China. The decision aims to reduce carbon emissions in major pollutants in the power sector by 60 percent by 2020. The State Council said emissions from coal-fired power generation will be cut by 180 million tonnes by 2020.
