Ministry of Commerce says China still attractive

12-02-2016 16:19 BJT

On Friday the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said that the country continues to be an attractive destination for foreign investors.

Spokesperson Shen Danyang said in a regular press conference, that in the first 10 months of this year, investment from European Union companies in China increased by more than 40 percent, compared to the same period last year.

The comment comes after a recent German business confidence report showed that less than half of the German companies in China, were confident in the country's economic reforms.

One third of the surveyed companies said they did not feel as welcomed in China as before. The spokesperson said China's current industrial transformation and upgrading will bring a lot of business opportunities to investors. Let's take a listen.

"To our knowledge, most companies from the European Union think positively about investing in China. A report from China's American Chamber of Commerce shows that more than 60 percent of their member companies consider China as one of the top three global investment destinations. Up to 68 percent of those companies plan to expand their investment in China. The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development's 2016 report also says that China is still one of the most attractive investment gateways. Therefore, we hope foreign companies can look at China's investment environment objectively, boost their confidence and seize the opportunities cropping up during China's transformation." said Chinese Ministry of Commerce's spokesperson Shen Danyang.
