Editor's note: In a previous series of interviews with several Ambassadors here in Beijing, CCTV.com also invited them to talk about the Belt and Road Initiative and share their insights.

In today's episode, the CCTV.com Panview team features an interview with the Chilean Ambassador to China, Jorge Heine, who talks about how his nation has maintained "flourishing trade ties" with China in the past few decades and the New Silk Road will expand it further.

Santiago has pledged to sign on with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. Chile sees the B&R as the "infrastructure project for the world." Chilean President Micelle Bachelet is scheduled to attend the upcoming Belt & Road forum in Beijing.

The Chilean ambassador believes, with the B&R Initiative, even brighter days are ahead for both nations, since his nation holds an abundance of natural resources for mining, commodities exports, along with a bountiful supply of seafood. Accordingly, Chile can take advantage of the large China market.

Ambassador Heine also talks about the plan to build a fiberoptic cable network between the two nations for faster internet speed that would benefit the Chilean people, which can be credited as digital connectivity between Asia and South America in the long run.

He explains this and more.
