Shanwei - co-host city of the 16th Asian Games

Sailing will be held in Guangdong Water Sports Centre of Shanwei during the 16th Asian Games.

Introduction of Shanwei

Shanwei used to be named as "Shanmei" and it is so named as "shan" refers to the higher place of the beach while this place is famous for its beautiful seashore scenery. Later, as "mei" and "wei" has partial tone, it was renamed as "Shanwei", according to

Located at the coastal area of Guangdong Province, Shanwei is next to Jieyang in the east, Huizhou in the west and borders Heyuan in the north and South China Sea in the south.

Shanwei City is a place endowed with green mountains and clear waters, charming and gentle scenery.
