Zhouqu: Coach station back to normal in 3 days

With the massive cleaning up operation in Zhouqu County after the devastating mudslides, most of the local transport systems are now back to normal. The coach station will also be operating again soon.

Floodwater recedes from Zhouqu County-seat

In Zhouqu County, northwest China´s Gansu Province, rescue workers have finished draining the stagnant water in a barrier lake by dredging the mudslide-blocked Bailong River. Now work is set to begin on reconstruction work following the disaster.

Since Aug. 8, more than 400 heavy machine have been deployed in Zhouqu to work almost around the clock to clean the mud at the watercourse.

The death toll from the massive mudslides in Zhouqu County, northwest China´s Gansu Province, had risen to 1,407 as of 4 p.m. Friday, with 358 still missing, the provincial government said.

[July 27] About 20 people went missing in Hanyuan county of Sichuan province.

[July 20] Landslides hit Chengkou county of Chongqing. More than 10,000 villagers were evacuated.

[July 18] At least 15 people were killed in the mountainous county of Lan´gao in Ankang, Shaanxi.

[June 28] At least 107 from 38 familes were buried under a rain-triggered landslide in Guanling county, Guizhou province.
