Kenya sack national football team coach

06-21-2012 05:27 BJT

Kenya football coach Francis Kimanzi was fired this week after the East African country failed to qualify for the final round of the 2013 Africa cup of nations qualifiers.

Kimanzi's sacking was the 12th change made in the post since Kenya last qualified for the Africa cup of nations in 2004. Kimanzi who was re-hired in 2011 after being let go in 2009 after being in charge for 9 months in his first spell as coach had said he needed more time after Kenya's recent failure to build the team.

The national football body however seems to have run out of patience. In a twist of events Kimanzi was appointed Technical director for the national team. Kenya currently lies bottom in the 2014 world cup qualifier making their prospects for Brazil dim.
