CAIRO, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi respected the ruling of Supreme Constitutional Court (SCC) which froze his decree to resume the dissolved People's Assembly (lower house of parliament), the acting spokesman of the presidency Yasser Ali said on Wednesday.

Ali pointed out Morsi's respect of Tuesday's ruling by the SCC by saying that Egypt is a state governed by law.

He also affirmed the president's due respect of the Constitution, the judicial authority and judges.

He further noticed that Morsi abides by all judicial rulings and is keen on preventing any confrontation among state authorities, official news agency MENA reported.

Egypt's SCC on Tuesday suspended a presidential decree reinstating the dissolved People's Assembly.

The court, presided by Maher El-Behary, ordered to halt President Morsi's decree issued on Sunday for the lower house to resume work.

It also ordered to execute its former decisions to void the parliament's lower house, annulling it and considering it did not legally exist.

The SCC ruled on June 14 that the People's Assembly was null and void as some articles of the parliament election law were unconstitutional. The then-ruling military council ordered the dissolution of the People's Assembly in line with the verdict and retook legislative powers.

However, the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamists have rejected the dissolution of parliament.
