People in India's eastern state of Bihar are shivering through severe cold weather. Daily life has become more difficult and transportation is affected as well.

In the state capital of Patna, the minimum temperature dipped to 7 degrees Celsius. Those most affected are the street dwellers, who have neither a warm place to live, nor enough warm clothes to keep out the chill. Some laborers complain the state government is not concerned about poor families who are trying to keep warm by lighting bonfires.

Air and rail traffic is also badly affected by the cold wave. Flights and trains are either delayed or canceled.

Passengers in large numbers are waiting at airports and railway stations. Thick fog also became a major setback for road traffic. The Meteorological Department warns the misery will not end soon, as there are colder days ahead.
