DPRK holds election for deputies to provincial

The election of deputies to provincial, city and county people's assemblies in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has started across the nation on Sunday.

General secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defense Commission, Kim Jong Il on Sunday went to a local polling station.

The polling is for the election of deputies to the Pyongyang City People's Assembly .

Residents express their expectations on the candidates.

A Pyongyang resident Hong Chang Sil said, "I have just voted for a candidate and I believe that the elected candidate will work harder to live up to the expectations of the people."

The leading newspapers of the DPRK Sunday called on all people to participate in the local elections.

Candidates show their determination.

Pyongyang Deputy Candidate Kim Song Un said, "I will live up to the expectations of the people who voted for me and become a true servant of the people, taking the lead in implementing the ideas of our respected General for building an economically powerful nation."

The last election of deputies to local people's assemblies was held on July 29, 2007.
