Afghan suicide bomber kills at least 11

In Southern Afghanistan, a suicide bomber has blown himself up at the main gate of a provincial police headquarters, killing at least 11 people.The attack took place early on Sunday in Helmand, where Afghans have recently taken the helm over security.

The blast ripped a gaping hole in the compound's wall, killing 10 police officers and a child, and wounded at least 12 others. A Helmand provincial spokesman says the suicide bomber apparently drove a car between two police vehicles at the entrance , and then detonated. This blast in Lashkar Gah is the latest in a string of attacks in the south in recent weeks.
