Iraq intensifies security on eve of holy month of Ramadan

Muslims flocked to markets in Baghdad to stock up on supplies to get them through the fasting period. Iraqi authorities have intensified security measures on the eve of the holy month of Ramadan.

Iraqi shopper Um Mostafa said, "We are preparing for the holy month of Ramadan which will be, God willing, the month of happiness for all Iraqis. We come here to shop for various commodities, such as spices, nuts, almonds and everything we need. We always come to this market to buy our necessities before the holy month of Ramadan."
