US President Barack Obama and his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai have reaffirmed their commitment to the mission in Afghanistan. The announcement came a day after a helicopter crash brought the largest single-day loss of American forces in the decade-long Afghan war.

During the phone call, Karzai expressed his condolences over the tragic loss and reached agreement with Obama that the US mission in Afghanistan is critical to the security of both countries.
