Cranky Australian crocodile steals a lawnmower

12-29-2011 09:42 BJT

A giant crocodile called Elvis, with an apparent appetite for appliances, proved to be rather cranky on Wednesday.

As the saltwater reptile not only charged at his Australian keepers, but stole a lawnmower. Three employees at the reptile park north of Sydney were cutting the grass, when Elvis lunged out of his lagoon at one of them.

Warding off the sixteen-foot, eleven-hundred pound crocodile with a lawnmower, the staff escaped the enclosure unhurt, but without the grass-cutter.

Elvis dragged the machine into his pool, where the engine died as it submerged.

The croc is known for being grumpy and has lunged at staff before, however, this is the first time he has stolen something. But karma certainly bit him in the tail, as Elvis lost two teeth during the encounter.
