A Japanese minister has met his Thai counterpart to discuss post-flood economic restoration. This follows last October's disaster, which ruined over two thirds of Japan's factories in Thailand.

Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry Yukio Edano, had met Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra in Thailand, to work together on plans for economic restoration in the flooded country. He expects all factories to be back to full capacity by the second quarter of 2012.

Seven industrial estates were affected by the floods. Roughly 70 percent of the flooded companies were Japanese or backed by Japanese investment.

The officials are focusing on long-term water management, flood relief and prevention plans.

Thailand earlier approved a 630 million U.S. dollar emergency spending plan for post-flood reconstruction.
