In Syria, dozens more people have been killed as violence escalates in several districts of Homs.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reports that around 63 people were killed on Thursday, while the Local Coordination Committees put the number of people killed at up to 100.

State-run SANA news agency reported that four army personnel, including an officer, were killed by armed groups.

Meanwhile, some armed groups set up roadblocks in the streets of Homs and set tires on fire, while some others broke into stores and houses and stole their contents.

Seven mortar shells were fired at a refinery in Homs by gunmen.
