Rescuing horse trapped in sinking mud

In a rescue story, a horse was trapped in quicksand-like mud on a beach in southeast Australia on Monday, and its owner stuck by its side until it was hauled out.

Astro the horse is 18 years old. Owner Nichole Graham was riding on Avalon Beach when the horse started sinking in the muddy sand.

With the tide rising, Graham remained by its side, holding and comforting the horse until rescuers from the local Emergency Services arrived and pulled it out.

According to the rescuer, the next day Astro seemed none the worse for its ordeal. Graham told reporters this was the first problem she'd had in 20 years of riding on the beach.
