UN-Arab League joint envoy to Syria Kofi Annan is set to visit the camps sheltering Syrian refugees in Turkey's southern province of Hatay on Tuesday. Refugees there are trying to adapt to the conditions. They've set up an elementary school for the children.

It may be another usual school day for many children, but not for these kids. Only the few who are lucky enough to live outside the camps with their own means can have their children continue their studies.

This school is located in a suburban neighbourhood of Antakya in Turkey's Hatay Province. It's been teaching some 100 Syrian children since the middle of February. The basic curriculum includes Arabic, maths, English and history.

Turkey has been welcoming but it's not home.

Betool Jerjur, Syrian 7th grader, said, "I want to go back to Syria. It would be better than Turkey. We are living here and get along with the Turkish people but Syria is better for us. Syria is our flesh and blood."

But Betool can only wish, as clashes between the Syrian government and opposition continue...even outside Syria.

Two refugees and a Turkish translator were wounded on Monday in the Kilis border refugee camp. An official from the Turkish Foreign Ministry says it came under fire from the Syrian side of the border.

Earlier fierce clashes between Syrian security forces and rebel fighters were reported close to a border crossing between Kilis and the Syrian town of Azaz. Rebels killed at least six members of the Syrian security forces and customs officials. Eight rebel gunmen were wounded.

So far, more than 24,000 refugees have crossed from Syria into Turkey, with no end in sight.
