Indonesia's search and rescue agency said they were working to recover the black box on board the Russian passenger jet that crashed into a volcano last week.

Search teams say they spotted what is believed to be the combined voice-and-data recorder, also known as the "black box," peeking from the wreckage at the bottom of a 500-meter ravine. The country's Special Forces traversed the slope of the volcano, trying to reach the device.

The Sukhoi Superjet 100 slammed onto Mount Salak in West Java with 48 people on board during a demonstration flight for potential buyers. All people on board are presumed dead. The cause of the accident remains unknown.
