For more analysis of the US-South Korea 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue, we’re now joined on the phone by Ruan Zongze, Vice President of the China Institute of International Studies.

Q1: We know that issues related to the Korean Peninsula will be the focus of the dialogue, so what’s the significance of the 2+2 ministerial meeting, in terms of easing the tensions between South Korea and the DPRK?

Q2: The Defence Ministry says the naval forces of South Korea, the United States and Japan will stage a joint drill next week. Earlier, the US also held talks with India. The US has been trying to boost its ties with many Asian countries recently. What do you think are the reasons for this?
