Japan, Germany pressure Iran on nuclear issue

Japanese Foreign Minister Koichiro Gemba met with his French and German counterparts on Saturday. The meetings came as Japan and Germany looked to work together to pressure Iran on its nuclear development.

Koichiro Gemba first met with German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle. The two expressed their determination to pressure Iran towards resolving the nuclear issue. Gemba also met with France’s Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius. This was the first visit by the new French foreign minister since the election of French President Francois Hollande. Both ministers are in Japan for the Tokyo Afghanistan Conference, which will see around 80 countries and international organizations taking part.
