Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Fu Ying says foreign ministers from China and ASEAN have reviewed the implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea or DOC.

An agreement has been reached to continue implementation of the DOC and cooperation projects under its framework. China stresses the DOC should be comply with by all members to build on mutual trust. Some ASEAN countries have proposed to start discussions on a Code of Conduct to address territorial disputes in the South China Sea.

China has said it’s willing to consider the proposal seriously and hopes to start discussions when conditions are ripe.

Fu Ying, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister, said, "Some of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers asked whether we should discuss the details of the South China Sea code of conduct. China will seriously consider this and looks forward to finalizing the document after all conditions requested by China and ASEAN countries reach the final stage."
