Japan has said it will take its long-running territorial dispute with South Korea to the International Court of Justice. The foreign minister’s remarks come after South Korean President Lee Myung-bak made a surprise visit on Friday to islets claimed by both countries. Full Story >>

For more on the territorial dispute between South Korea and Japan, we’re joined by Yang Xiyu, a research fellow with the China Institute of International Studies.

Japan earlier insisted that tensions with South Korea would not hamper their cooperation. But those tensions seem to have grown further than expected. Where do you think the island dispute will lead?
