Brahimi to brief UN security council on Syria crisis

The UN-Arab League joint special envoy for Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi is to brief the UN Security Council on the Syria situation Monday. It will be his first report to the UN in his new post.

Earlier on Saturday, Brahimi briefed UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on his recent trip to Syria, including Damascus. The UN says Ban and Brahimi focused on how to address the appalling levels of violence in Syria and how to progress toward an inclusive political solution that will address the legitimate demands of the Syrian people.
