India hosts multi-nation exercise and forum

The Indian Navy is hosting a multi-nation biennial joint exercise and the Milan conclave in the remote Andaman Islands with warships and delegations from 16 countries.

The exercise began on Wednesday and will continue until next Tuesday. Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia and other countries from the Asia-Pacific region are taking part in the exercise. Milan is a forum that began with just five participants in 1995. It now has a membership of 17 countries including India. Its aim is to address common concerns in the Indian Ocean Region and increase co-operation.
