Gold prices have hit record highs, triggering investors worldwide to swap cash for the precious metal. As confidence in international currencies and property market weakens, more people in China are joining in the gold rush.

Gold and silver have rallied in recent weeks due to investor uncertainty about the long-term state of currencies, particularly in the wake of the current eurozone crisis. China is the number one gold producer in the world. Many people favor gold for its investment flexibility and bright prospects of appreciating.

Ding Jingshan, gold buyer, said, "I think investing in gold bullion is smart. Recently, the price of gold has been increasing and I think it will rise even more."

Tuo Ya, gold buyer, said, "To invest in property you need a large sum of money, but gold is not like that. You can buy one bar, 500 grams or one kilogram. It's up to you."
