China's fiscal spending in 2009 went largely according to plan. Finance Minister, Xie Xuren said that in 2009, China's total central fiscal expenditure amounted to around 4.4 trillion yuan, an increase of 24 percent yuan over that of last year. There was a significance increase in spending on improving living standards. And 483 billion yuan went on national defense in 2009.
The central government expenditure exceeded revenue last year, resulting in a fiscal deficit of 750 billion yuan. However that deficit was the desired outcome.
