SOEs set to focus on certain areas

The regulator of centrally-controlled state-owned enterprises told a news conference in Shanghai, that SOEs should focus on certain areas, and raise core competitiveness.

Huang Danhua, Deputy Director of SASAC said "Through adjustments and restructuring among the centrally-controlled state-owned enterprises and the companies owned by the local governments, industrial concentricity should be improved and the allocation of resources should be optimized."

According to the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, the central enterprises should maintain a sole or absolute holder in military, electricity, petroleum, petrochemical, telecommunication, coal, aviation and shipping. The central enterprises should also keep an absolute holding in the high-tech sector.
