The central government's recent measures have given a glimpse of hope to many, hoping for a better income. The government's policy on narrowing the gap, is tipped to be unveiled at the end of the year. Let's look at what's happened so far.

At the Central Economic Work Conference held last year, the government listed income structure adjustment as a key measure to boost consumption. During the NPC and CPPCC annual sessions this year, Premier Wen Jiabao pointed out that the government not only has to expand social fortune, but also allocate it fairly.

At the State Council executive meeting held in April, deepening the income reform and reforming the social insurance system was made a top priority.

In May, the National Development and Reform Commission reportedly began drawing up an income allocation policy. Then at the end of the month, the State Council formally listed it in its 2010 mission.

On June 1st, Vice Premier Li Keqiang, reiterated the importance of narrowing the income gap.
