Taiwan's agricultural and fishing industries say they look to benefit from the agreement because their products are popular with mainland consumers.

By signing the ECFA, 18 kinds of Taiwan products including fresh fish, oranges, and tea will be added to tariff-deduction lists. The products will eventually have their tariffs removed in the next three years. That will bring the total number of zero tariff products from Taiwan to the mainland market to 52.

A representative from Taiwan's fishing industry says the mainland's huge market demand will bring more concrete profits. Taiwan's agricultural industry representative says it's confident that their products will be competitive. The local agricultural authority estimates exported fruits to the mainland market is likely to account for 50 percent of its total export volume.
