China produced more cars than any other country in the first half of the year. And according to the China Automotive Technology and Research Center, sales also soared.

Chinese car makers produced nearly 8 and half million autos, increasing more than 44 percent year on year. More than 7 million cars were sold in Chinese auto market, surging more than 30 percent. The center predicts car sales in China will surpass 16 million this year, ensuring China remains a major auto market. But figures from the China Automotive Technology and Research Center show that passenger car sales in June, slowed from 25 percent growth, to ten percent.

Zhao Hang, Director of China Automotive Technology & Research Center said "The government's auto replacement subsidy program may stop. But if some of the polices remain, it may help to keep steady auto sales. If the program is scheduled to end next year, car sales in the fourth quarter of this year may soar. China's car sales will be number one in the world in any case. "
