MCDONALD'S China operation says two food additives in Chicken McNuggets sold in China are in line with national standards, and pose no risk to consumers' health.
A recent investigation found all white meat Chicken McNuggets sold in the U.S. contain the chemical preservative tBHQ, and an anti-foaming agent. The former is an additive normally used for preserving vegetable oils and animal fats, while the latter is often used in cosmetics.
The company's statement confirms McNuggets on the Chinese market also contain the two chemicals, but the amount is within the limits of national standards. Health experts urge consumers to pay more attention to food additives and adopt balanced dining habits for better health.
