Taiwan representative, Huang Chih-peng, says the Cross-Strait Economic Cooperation Committee will be established in September.
The Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement, or ECFA, is now under deliberation by the Taiwan Legislature. It's expected to be passed in August. Once the ECFA is passed, the committee will be set up. It will discuss cross-strait agreements, which will be signed in future.
Final agreements must still be signed by the mainland's Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits and its Taiwan counterpart -- the Straits Exchange Foundation. The committee's main responsibilities are communication, explanation and execution.
