Many analysts have made projections on China's annual inflation level. The general expectation is that inflationary pressure will wane in the second half, and the whole year figure won't exceed the government target of 3 percent.

Professor Lei Dingming from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology predicts China's CPI will be no higher than 3 percent.

That view is echoed by Professor Li Daikui from Tsinghua University, who anticipates inflation to be 2.9 percent this year. Goldman Sachs has lowered China's CPI growth forecast from 3.5 percent to just 2.1 percent, and says it's not a big concern for the economy.

Other analysts also say CPI will drop in the second half. That's due to a higher comparison base last year, and the widely expected slowdown in economic growth - helping to ease the pressure along with declining global commodity prices.
