Taiwan authorities have implemented new regulations covering the entry of residents from mainland, Hong Kong and Macao. The regulations which took effect Thursday lift many bans, allowing much easier access.
Although the Taiwan authority had previously allowed access of qualified residents to the island, accompanying limitations were making things harder. The new regulations have removed a lot of barriers. Limitations on the daily number of mainland residents allowed for entry, have also been deleted. To attract more tourists, Taiwan will also allow mainland tourists to apply for visas upon entry in Penghu.
