The president of the Cross-Strait Tourism Exchange Association based on the Chinese mainland, will lead the inaugural tour group from the last six provinces and regions to Taiwan next month.
Shao Qiwei will also meet with the Taiwan Strait Tourism Association, to discuss the island's opening up to individual tourists.
Tour groups from the six provinces can't start any earlier than August, because there has been an influx of visitors recently.
If large numbers visit Taiwan in September, this year's target of one and a half million mainland travellers to Taiwan will be easily surpassed.
