Now let's take a look at the impact of the floods in southern China on hydro power companies in the region. Most say the flood didn't affect production to any significant degree.

Yangtze Power, China's biggest listed hydro electric company, says the flood didn't impact its daily production. Minjiang Hydropower and Leshan Electric Power also say their production hasn't been affected. Mingxing Electric Power says although the flood caused some issues, there is no major lasting impact.

Still, their stocks didn't perform well on the market. The market increased by more than 3 percent during the last 5 trading days until Tuesday's closing, but the hydro power sector rose less than 3 percent.

On individual stocks, Yangtze Power and Xichang Electric Power increased by more than 3 percent, while other stocks like Mingxing, Leshang grew slower than the main board.
