Background of Everbright Bank

Everbright Bank has 483 branches on the Chinese mainland. Its total assets are about 2 trillion yuan, with loans worth around 650 billion yuan. As at the end of 2009, Everbright was the sixth largest share-holding commercial bank in China.

Its capital adequacy ratio stood at more than 10 percent, after it raised 11.5 billion yuan through a private placement in August 2009. Central Huijin Investment Limited, an arm of sovereign-wealth fund China Investment Corporation, is currently Everbright Bank's biggest shareholder. It holds about a 60 percent stake, after injecting 20 billion yuan into the lender.
